“I met people who were like my father and mother and people who believed that everything was up to a higher power and we have no real control over life. I watched people of organized religion tear each other apart in effort to preach peace and I saw homeless people with nothing give their meal at a shelter to strangers. I saw the American dream as it once was and what it has twisted itself into. And in the middle of it… I found me.”—Brian in Redemption by Spencer Thurgood
We are a product of evolution, of science and time. Of all the right chemicals falling together perfectly and the manipulation of those over millions, maybe billions of years. Of the best selected traits passed on for trillions of generations. Religion was invented to explain what earlier humans couldn’t. Why did the sun rise and fall? Where did rain and lightening come from? Why are we here, and where do we go when we die? How did we get here? Why is earth here? We have science now; logic. Religion has been the number one cause of war and death upon ourselves. There will never be peace among men whist we fight over who’s god is right, who goes to hell and who doesn’t. It separates us.
To put it frankly, I believe in any God as much as I believe in Zeus, Set, or the tooth fairy.
